Uncontrolled arms sale not to lower crime rate
Uncontrolled arms sale and easily available gun license will not lower crime rate in Russia. Such an opinion was expressed by the deputy of the Security Committee chairman in Duma Anatoly Kulikov. "Total arming won?t change the situation radically in the country ", said Kulikov. "The gun in the pocket won?t help you if somebody decided to finish off with you", - noted he. Duma on its turn has cited the data, according to which 25 590 crimes connected with arms traffic have been committed in the period from January to October 2005, which is 5,2 % more than in the same period of 2004. Crimes, connected with arms production, during ten month of 2005 amount to 3331 cases, which detects one forth growth (22,8%). Crimes committed with the use of arms amount 18190 cases. Kulikov noted, that the biggest growth of crimes committed with the use of gun is defined in the North Caucasus regions. "The highest increase of these crimes is in Karachayevo-Cherkesia, Dagestan, Kalmykia", said Kulikov.
