Asada sets "record" in figure-skating
Mao Asada became the first female figure-skater, who managed to jump 2 triple axels.
Asada demonstrated the skill during Japan championship, but she is unable to participate in Olympic games despite of the record. Besides, she took only second place in Japan championship, losing to Fumi Suguri.
Asada can not participate in Turin because she became 15 years old only in September. If she was 15 before July 1 - the last day of applying to Olympic Games - she would have the permission to perform in Turin. This rule was approved by International union skaters in 1996 by recommendations of doctors.
As a reminder, Asada has won "Grand Prix" final recently, defeating Russian Irina Slutskaya. She could win Japan championship but failed the short program.
"I am glad I managed to jump 2 triple axels. I didn`t think about victory at that moment, just about jumps. I must admit that performed at 95% of my potential today", - said Asada.
Japan Federation of figure-skating declared that it will not ask special permission for Asada`s participation in Olympic Games.
