Painting stolen in Taganrog found in Moscow
Disappeared from Taganrog Fine Art Museum store room painting by second half of the XIX century painter Genrik Semirdasky "To morning market" has been discovered in Moscow. According to experts, the canvas estimated at $ 400,000 is considerably renewed, some details are painted over or changed. It is most likely to be done on purpose, to set up it for author?s copy or sketch. Semiradsky?s painting "To morning market" was sent to the store-room of Taganrog Fine Art Museum 1996, an в was supposed to sent to restoration soon. However, the canvas was remembered only in September, 2005, and so the theft was revealed. Semiradsky?s canvas disappearance was announced in specialized journals. Responding to the announcement Moscow antiquarians remembered selling a resembling canvas in 2001. Soon the canvas was brought by its current owner, who didn?t have a slightest suspect on this painting original. Genrik Semiradsky is one of the academists of the XIX century. Greater part of his life he spent in Italy, his paintings depict mostly antique and religious subjects. His works are popular at the auctions: his canvas was sold for 780,000 euro at Sotheby`s in summer 2005.
