Cryosat satellite fell to Artic Ocean
The head section of carrier rocket "Rokot" with European satellite Cryosat fell to Artic Ocean.
As official representative of Ruscosmos Vyacheslav Davidenko said satellite is officially considered as lost.
"By information of cosmodrome Plesetsk, from where Russian "Rokot" with European spacecraft on board started off at 19:02 by Moscow time, as a result of abnormal mode of "Rokot" engine work satellite fell to Artic ocean," - said Davidenko.
European Space Agency (ESA) confirmed that launch was unsuccessful.
Cryosat satellite cost 140 millions euro and was created by request of (ESA) in the frames of "Living Planet" program. Cryostat had to orbit on height of 720 kilometers for precise investigations of ice covering width and spread in Artic Ocean regions.
