Orthodox church in Latvia subjected to mockery and slander
Metropolitan of Riga and all Latvia Alexander announced in Christmas message that Latvian Orthodox church is forced to serve in severe conditions.
"The voice of Christ in Church is muffled, and the Church in the person of its clergymen is laughed at and evidently slandered. In this sense the history of Church repeats the course of Chirst`s life. But in festive days of Christmas, dear brothers and sisters, I appeal to you with request to keep unity because this is the will of God", - was said in the message.
Metropolitan Alexander also noted that construction of temples continues, acting churches are restored, Sunday school and theological seminary operate, work with youth is conducted. In opinion of the head of Latvian Orthodox Church this fact "gives confidence that God will not leave us and we will serve for welfare of people and country in spite of anti-Church actions".
