Ukraine refused from the Olympics
The Ukrainian authorities have decided not to fight for the right to host the winter Olympic games in 2022 in Lviv. The application of the metropolis was withdrawn from the contest due to the difficult financial situation in the country.
This decision was made in the negotiations of the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk and head of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) powers Sergey Bubka. "The working group found that Lviv has tremendous potential for development, but in today's conditions the metropolis would be rather difficult to fight for the right to host the Games-2022. I think it is more correct to compete for the Olympic games in 2026", - quotes Bach official website of the IOC.
According to the head of the IOC, this event will serve as an impetus for the resumption of economic power and will play a big role in the development of Ukrainian society. In the near future Ukraine will consider the possibility of applying for the right to host the Games 2026.
