Central Christmas tree leaves Kremlin
32-meter Christmas tree has decorated Sobornaya square of Moscow for 3 weeks - from Catholic Christmas till New Year by old style.
"At first 10 workers and hoisting crane will take 1.5 thousands toys and garlands from the fir tree", - said press-secretary of Presidential Affairs Administration Victor Khrekov. Then the tree will be "cut down" and special 3-ton concrete foundation will be dismantled afterwards.
This season, first time for 4 years, Christmas tree in Kremlin was not fake but alive. It was brought to Moscow from native land of Grandfather Frost - Vologda oblast. Spassky gates of Kremlin were opened specially for Christmas tree as for president on inauguration day, because "swing of boughs" was too big for Borovitsky gates.
Now Christmas tree will be sent for utilization. Khrekov didn`t exclude the possibility that alive Christmas tree will be brought to Kremlin next year. "WE hope that children holiday, which took place on December 27 on Sobornaya square this year, will become a traditional one, and its indispensable attribute must be a natural fir-tree", - he noted.
