About 30 thousand people thought to have been killed in Pakistan
In Pakistan the death toll because of the earthquake can be more than 30 thousand people.
Tariq Farooq, works and communications minister in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, estimated that 30,000 people had died in that region alone.
The minister of the Kashmir region Feysal Hayat informed that half of Kashmir suffered from the earthquake, from 2,4mln people half of them has been touched by the earthquake.
Besides Pakistan the Indian region Jammu was also damaged by the earthquake. The death toll there is 583 people.
The Pakistan military has been mobilised to the mountainous regions. Helicopters brought the medical help there.
In the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, rescuers attempted to find survivors in the ruins of the residential complex.
Pakistan`s president has appealed for international help, saying his country cannot deal with the aftermath of the massive earthquake on its own.
Turkey sent two helicopters with rescuers and medical help.
A British team of specialists joined Pakistani rescue workers. Great Britain sent two helicopters with rescuers, medical help and the special trained dogs and the necessary equipment.
Many countries have offered help to Pakistan, whether financial or logistical.
Russia also offered its help. Russian team of rescuers flew to Pakistan: 30 rescuers, 4 specialists with trained dogs.
The Russian team has all the equipment to work for 2 weeks. The leader of the team is Andrei Legoshin.
Russian Department of the World Help informed about intensions to render assistance in welfare.
