Winter-swimmers to celebrate Epiphany in Volkhov river


In Veliky Novgorod winter-swimmers will celebrate Epiphany in ice-hole near Novgorod Kremlin, informed Novgorod club of winter hardening.

On the night of Epiphany several dozens of winter-swimmers will bathe in consecrated waters of ice-whole in Volkhov river near Sophia belfry.

According to information of Novgorod regional Duma machinery, chairman of Novgorod regional Duma, head of Novgorod regional department of All-Russian federation of hardening and sport winter swimming Anatoly Boitsev will present among winter-swimmers.

Usually Novgorod winter-swimmers rush into ice-hole shouting "Long live to Epiphany!". It is also a tradition to draw water from consecrated lane near Novgorod Kremlin.

Weather forecasters predict air temperature of -30 degrees centigrade on the night of Epiphany in Veliky Novgorod.
