Leningrad oblast citizens commemorate anniversary of blockade reversal
Actions, devoted to 63-th anniversary of Leningrad blockade reversal, will take place in Leningrad oblast on Wednesday.
Grand meeting with participation of war veterans and representatives of city administration will be held on square near museum-diorama "Leningrad blockade breach" in Kirovsk town.
Meeting will continue with a ceremony of wreath and flowers placing on Soviet war tank T-34, situated on the bank of Neva river.
Moreover, solemn burial of pilot remains will take place on January 21. Squadron-leader of 14-th guard fighter command, captain Mikhail Lobanov will be buried on memorial cemetery near Krasniy Bor settlement in Tosnensky district. Remains of pilot were found in 2005 near crashed airplane. Name of pilot and data of his death was established by plane`s number. Fighter of Mikhail Lobanov Yak-1 was pranged on May 9, 1943.
Leningrad blockade was run on January 18, 1943, when troops of Volkhvsky and Leningrad fronts united near present town Kirovsk. Corridor of 8-10 km in width was made in circle of German army. This territory was used for railway and automobile communication with blockaded town.
Blockade circle was called off only 1 year later - on January 27, 1944.
