Volcano throws ashes to the height of 2.5 km in Kamchatka
Volcano Karymski in Kamchatka throws out ashes to the height of 2.5 km. The ashy trace stretched for 13 km south-east from volcano. This was informed by Kamchatski research-methodic seismological group.
Seismograph stations near volcano have registered about 350 local earthquakes during last day. Satellite shots presented by Alyaska volcanological observatory have revealed thermal anomaly near active dome.
Ash is a dusty lava, which consists of particles several mm in diameter and can cause poisoning of people and animals during inhalation. Ashfalls are dangerous for helicopter`s routes passing close to Karymski volcano, tourists, fishers and hunters.
Eruption of Karymski volcano (its absolute height reaches 1.5 thousands meters) started on January 2, 1996 and lasts till present moment with various activity.
Karymski volcano, which is situated 125 km north from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski, is considered as one of most active among 28 acting volcanoes of semi-island. It is not dangerous for settlements of Kamchatka.
