Court discharged contemporary art exhibition organizers
Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow has dismissed the claim against exhibition "The latest art of post-Soviet space" organizers, including its curator Marat Gelman.
Reportedly, the court didn`t find the grounds for satisfaction of a claim. The writ said that the exposition "aimed to insult the Orthodox believers and rouse international dissention" and caused plaintiffs "moral damage". The artists intended to get 5 million rubles from Gelman and the director of Central House of Artists Vasily Bychkov. In the course of court examination it is become known, that two plaintiffs didn`t attend the exhibition, but formed the opinion about it, having looked through the catalogue. The defendants` representatives refused plaintiffs` claim, reasoning, that "exhibition itself cannot be considered as religious feelings insult". In June 2005 Zamoskvoretsky court already dismissed the similar claim against Gelman and Bychkov on procedure grounds (improper documents drawing up).
The exhibition "The latest art of post-Soviet space" was held in January 2005 in te framework of Marat Gelman`s project "Russia-2"
