Shukhov tower in Moscow to become resemblance of Eiffel tower
The Shukhov tower on Shabolovka will undergo reconstruction. This was announced by general director of "Russian TV and radio broadcasting network" Gennady Sclyar.
The project of reconstruction presupposes overhaul of the tower, formation of sight grounds and bordering entertaining zone. Moreover there is a possibility of panoramic restaurant construction. The tower will be illuminated from beneath on the analogy of light decoration of Eiffel tower in Paris. "The tower will not be used as an object of TV broadcasting because Ostankino TV tower is more functional in this sense", - said Gennady Sclyar.
The investor of reconstruction will be determined on contest base. The winner of the contest will reconstruct the tower at own expense and will own all entertaining objects in the tower. At present moment 4 companies are eager to participate in project realization. Approximate sum of investment is $15-20 millions.
Shukhov tower was constructed in 1922 by architect Vladimir Shukov.
