Senator McCain appealed to West to boycott summit of G8 in Petersburg
American senator-republican from Arizona John McCain has appealed to leaders of western countries to boycott summit of G8 in St. Petersburg planned for July of current year. The senator is famous for sharp statements about Russian interior and foreign politics.
During his performance on conference in Munich devoted to politics of security senator McCain in particular has announced that Vladimir Putin has shut down all reforms in Russia and shares no democratic values of USA and European countries. By senator`s words Purin`s Russia is not a democratic and an economically developed country. This fact puts expediency of G8 summit in Petersburg under question.
In opinion of McCain, Russia could help USA and Europe in process of world construction after cold war. But instead of that Kremlin followed interior and foreign policy, which contradicts to democratic values and conflicts with interests of western countries.
Senator has accused Russia of pressure on Georgia and Ukraine by means of price for energy resources increase, while reduced prices for gas remain valid for Lukashenko regime in Belarus. Moreover, in opinion of McCain, Russia supports dictatorial regimes in Middle Asia.
