Philosopher Moisei Kagan passed away in Saint Petersburg
On Friday in Saint Petersburg on the 85th year of his life after prolonged severe illness passed away the well-known philosopher, the professor of the philological department of St. Petersburg State University Moisei Kagan.
Moisei Solomonovich Kagan was one of the founders of Soviet culture science, the theory of art and aesthetics. The veteran of World War II, he actively participated in the cultural life of Saint Petersburg to the end of his life.
The fundamental scientific works of the scientist covered all forms and genres of arts, not one generation of humanitarians were brought up on his monographs and textbooks. The investigations of Kagan in the field of world and domestic culture development brought wide reputation to the author in Russia and abroad.
