Scientists from St. Petersburg ask to beware of pseudo-scientific cheating
During the regular meeting of the club "The scientist guest" the journalists communicated on the subject of pseudo-science and parasciences. On the one hand, the sciences noted that the naming parascience is a high honor for its representatives as long as the concept consists of the word ?science?, but at the same time the matter concerns cheating. On the other hand, the members of Russian Academy of Sciences say that the term ?pseudo-science? is perilous. According to their words, today`s fighters against pseudo-science are compared to the soviet fighters against genetics and cybernetics exactly because of this term.
The member of the Commission of Presidium of Russian Academy of Science on the fight with pseudo-science and falsification of scientific knowledge, the manager of the laboratory of the Physico-technical institute named after А.F.Joffe, the academician of Russian Academy of Science Evgeniy Aleksandrov described that the work of the commission is held on three directions. Firstly it streams to bar from squandering the funds for wild projects. Secondly watches in order not to prevent the traditional science from educating the population. Thirdly controls the textbooks.
The Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Science, the vice-president of the Russian Academy of Natural Science, the chairmen of St. Petersburg department of Russian Academy of Science, the professor George Fursey divided the representatives of pseudo-science into responsible and irresponsible ones. And among the responsible ones there are many swindlers.
