Olympiad: Chepalova won silver on skiathon
Julia Chepalova won silver medal in the ski race among women on 30 km by free style.
Literally on the last meters of the distance the Czech sportswoman Catherin Noymannova passed her ahead. Julia herself passed round Polish skier Justinus Kovalchik in the finishing spurt. Let us note that for Noymannova this medal became first gold on the Olympic Games.
Julia Chepalova went among the leaders from the very beginning of the race. Approximately 7 km before finish she stumbled against the skis of the Ukrainian Valentina Shevchenko, but this did not bring serious changes into the race. One more Russian woman Olga Zavyalov became the ninth.
