Airspace of Turin to be closed
Airspace of Turin closes from 18:45 of Saturday to 23:45 of Sunday in the view of XX Winter Olympic Games completion.
As Turin organizing commission informed, all flights in 9-km radius from city center will be prohibited. The exclusion is made only for airplanes with heads of states and governments on board.
1300 officials of law machinery and 4 police helicopters will guard the Olympic stadium during closing ceremony, in which Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi, Canadian general-governor Michael Jan, ex-mayor of New York Rudolf Juliani and other official persons will participate. Eurofighters of Italian Navy will be all set.
Analogous security measures were taken during opening ceremony of the Games. Since then fighters were flying for 3 times - by mistake of the pilot of privately owned airplane, because of weather balloon unrecognized by observance equipment and on suspicion of bomb in the car parked near Olympic stadium. All 3 alarms were false.
