Defense and prosecution appealed Kaloev verdict
The verdict on Russian Vitaly Kaloev, who was sentenced in Switzerland for murder of Skyguide air traffic control officer, was appealed by defense and prosecution.
This was informed by lawyer Marcus Hug and prosecutor Willrih Veder.
In October, 2005 Kaloev was sentenced to 8 years of convict prison. The defense consider that verdict is too heavy, and prosecution - extremely lenient. During trial prosecutor demanded 12 years of imprisonment for Kaloev. Defense insisted that Kaloev acted in state of affect and asked for 3-year punishment.
Skyguide dispatcher Peter Nielsen was on duty at night of plane crash. His mistake led to collision of Russian plane "Tu-154" and freight "Boeing". As a result of catastrophe, 71 people died including Kaloev`s wife and 2 children.
Nielson was killed on February 24, 2004. Kaloev didn`t remember the moment of murder and had no intention to hurt Nielsen.
