Today is festival of Protection of the Virgin
Orthodox believers celebrate holiday of the Blessed Virgin Protection today.
Orthodox church believes that the Blessed Virgin protects us all the time - from enemies, sudden death, illnesses and sufferings. But people cannot do any deeds, such as destroying of world and themselves, asking and expecting mercy from God and His Mother. There is nothing worse than satisfied and careless life in sin.
But Protection of the Blessed saves us from sins, vices, mistakes and temptations. This happen when we beg the Blessed for help wishing to make our life better and applying will to that. The Blessed Virgin protects not only body but soul.
