Nalchik terrorists use Koran to recruit soldiers
In the terrorist attack which had happened in Nalchik most of the criminals were the inhabitants, only two of them were from Ingushetiya and Chechnya.
During interrogation terrorists informed the terrorist attack had been prepared from summer 2004. Ilyas Gorthanov and Anzor Astemirov had recruited terrorists.
According to the arrested they got invitations to attend Koran lessons. The students got material help, accommodation, good conditions.
One month before the terrorist attack those who attended courses were informed about an attack, they were threatened with murder, with killing their relatives.
Reportedly terrorists were supposed to meet in October 13. They were given weapons, explosives, sacks and money - about 100 thousand Rubles each.
Investigators declared that most terrorists were not professional fighters but just dilettantes. They even didn?t know how to use weapons in the right way.
Over the last days about 30 people were interrogated. Law-enforcement officers believe students of Koran lessons can not be accused of the terrorist attack.
During the operation in Nalchik 92 terrorists reportedly were killed including the leaders Gorthanov and Astemirov. 13 criminals are arrested. 20 people are suspected.
