The corresponding document was supported by only 189 of parliamentarians with the required minimum of 226 votes.
according to the comments of the authors of the bill, in connection with military aggression in the East of Ukraine raised the issue about the need for additional measures in the sphere of television and radio broadcasting for the protection of the information space and to prevent the spread of " propaganda content. The MPs believe that the national Council on television and radio does not have the necessary powers to enable it to respond quickly to breaches in the media field.
The document provides for the immediate adoption of a Council decision on the imposition of penalties for violation by the licensee of the requirements of the legislation. The draft law also defines the size of fines for certain violations. Conclusion the levy of penalty has the opportunity to be challenged in court. The bill authorizes the Council to adopt an opinion on the suspension of the licenses of broadcasters, providers of services after the relevant court decision.
