Bad weather causes damage to Armenian agriculture worth $1.2 mln
Bad weather conditions, including the spring flood, shower rains, and frosts caused 420 mln drams ($1.2 mln) worth damage to the Armenian agriculture, Armenian Agriculture Ministry official Garnik Petrosyan said. According to him, overall, bad weather conditions this year caused the damage worth $5.7 mln to the country, including destroyed roads and bridges.
The agriculture ministry?s spokesman noted that the damage to the agriculture is not significant, as average annual damage caused by bad weather conditions is assessed from 10 bln to 13 bln drams. The Armenian government allocates money for rendering assistance to farmers every year. In 2006, the government gave to farmers seeds worth 1 bln drams to ease the damage caused by draught.
