Biography Michael BYKOVSKY Dormidontovich
Born in Moscow in the family of the carpenter. In 1816, Mr.. apprenticed to D. Gilardi. Participated in all its buildings. On the recommendation of Gilardi was admitted to the competition for the title of academician, got it in 1830. From 1828, Mr.. worked at the Moscow Architectural College, from 1836, its director. In 1834, Mr.. appointed officer on special assignments in Moscow governor-general and is in fact the main architect of Moscow, replacing O. I. Bove. In 1838-1839 he. traveled abroad. One of the founders of the artistic class, then converted to the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Founder and first chairman (1867-1869 gg.) Moscow Architectural Society. In 1880, Mr.. withdrew from the project and community activities. He died in Moscow. With a modest talent. Bykovskii was a passionate and progressive reformer in architecture. Seeing that classicism exhausted, sought to create a new style, calling for the use of the architectural heritage of all ages and peoples, thus contributing to the spread of eclecticism. . Major works: Marfino mansion near Moscow and in Moscow Golitsynskii arcade, the building of the Moscow Stock Exchange (not exist), the house of Loris-Melikov in Milyutinskij Lane . and g. Sheremetev on Vozdvizhenka, Gorihvostovsky Khamovnichesky hospice and home Trinity Church on the Pokrovka, Ivanovo monastery, the bell tower of the Passion and St. Nicholas monasteries; Vonlyarlyarskih house in St. Petersburg at the Nicholas bridge.
