HOLD'EM (Holden) William (17. 04. 1918 - 16. 11. 1981), American actor. Real name - Beadle. Born into a wealthy family. Played in student theater, where he was discovered by a representative of 'Paramount', offered him a contract. He became a star after the first big role in the film 'Golden Boy' (Golden Boy, 1939). Returning from the war a lieutenant, he changed his Role of the typical American, playing a psychopathic killer in the movie 'dark past' (The Dark Past, 1946). In 1950, played two of the best of their roles: teacher, . hired for girlfriend gangster, . George Cukor's comedy 'Born Yesterday' (Born Yesterday) and screenwriter, . living in the pay of an aging silent movie star, . in the drama of Billy Wilder's 'Sunset Boulevard' (Sunset Boulevard, . In the 60-70's traveled the world collecting art collection and shooting mostly mediocre paintings. Among the best recent roles - work in the films of Sam Peckinpah 'Wild Bunch' (The Wild Bunch, 1969) and Sidney Lumet 'Licensor' (Network, 1976).
