(1570-1636) - Duke of Brunswick-Lц?neburg. Of the new line of Lц?neburg Welf Dynasty. The third of seven sons of William the Younger, Duke of Brunswick-Lц?neburg-Tsellskogo, and Dorothy, daughter of Christian III, King of Denmark. When he died, his eldest brother, Duke Ernst II (1611), A. and five of his brothers entered into an agreement on ancestral throne, . aimed at limiting the harmful practice of dynastic territorial partition in the house of Welf: the throne was to pass successively from older to younger brothers, . with all the brothers except George, . future George, .
