Alzheimer's disease (Alzheimer) Alois (14.6.1864, Marktbreyt - 19/12/1915, Breslau, now Wroclaw) - German psychiatrist and neuropathologist. Educated in Wц?rzburg and Berlin, after defending his doctoral dissertation at Wц?rzburg moved to Frankfurt, where he worked as an assistant in an urban clinic of nervous diseases under the guidance Zioli (Sioli); the invitation of E. Kraepelin initially moved to Heidelberg, then to Munich, where from 1904 to 1912 led the anatomical laboratory of the Psychiatric Hospital (based e. Crepeline), from 1912 until the end of life - an ordinary professor of psychiatry in Breslau. Studied during the progressive paralysis, schizophrenia, epilepsy. Known on the clinical and anatomical description of the degenerative diseases of the brain, named at the suggestion of Kraepelin's name (modern name - senile dementia Alzheimer's type). As it turned out later, the disease is poorly understood, and now, has been extended as far back as ancient Egypt (a disease of Prince Ptah-Hotepa, 1500 g. BC): it is characterized by suddenly advancing to 40-60 years in the life of atrophic changes in the brain, resulting in impaired memory, attention, efficiency and, then, to the general disorientation in space and time. Together with F. Nissl histology is considered the founder of scientific mental illness. He founded the journal "General Neurology and Psychiatry" (Zeitschrift fur die gesamte Neurologie und Psychiatrie). Literature.
