Alexander Danilovich Alexandrov

At the end of the Leningrad University (1933) worked there, in 1952-64 Rector. Since 1964 - in the Siberian Branch of USSR Academy of Sciences. Main scientific achievements A. relate to the geometry, where he discovered methods for studying metric properties of figures that created a new object of study - t. n. irregular metric manifolds more general than Riemannian spaces.
