He graduated from the library at Leningrad State Institute of Culture. NK. Krupskaya in 1969. Trained at the University of Maryland (USA). 17 years worked at the Institute of Culture. Since 1988. - Director of BAN.
Research interests: of library, book studies, computer. Author of more than 150 scientific works, including books: "Rendering and annotating scientific literature," "Library and bibliographic processes in the system of scholarly communication", "Librarian's syndrome", "The fate of libraries in Russia".
Doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor. Member of the Academy of Natural Sciences. Member of the Presidium of St. Petersburg Scientific Center RAS, a member of the editorial boards of the journals "Bibliography", "Scientific and Technical Libraries".
