Since 1756 was the librarian of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, died about 1794. He belongs: "Essai sur la bibliotheque et le cabinet de curiosites et d'histoire naturelle de l'Academie des sciences de St.-Pet." (St. Petersburg, 1766: Russian translation in. Kostychev, St. Petersburg., 1799), which collects all the then known data on the ancient literature, and which serves as the basis of our information about the academic library. In 1778 - 80 years B. published in "St.-Petersburger Journal" a series of articles, mainly historical content. He issued another "Nachricht von der metallenen Bildsaule Peters des Grossen" (St. Petersburg, 1783; Russian translation of H. Karandasheva, St. Petersburg., 1786) and translated into German essay Kozodavlev: "The Life of His Holiness Patriarch Nikon (St. Petersburg, 1784), under the title:" Beitrage zur Lebensgeschichte des Patriarchen Nikon "(Riga, 1788).
