Biography IVANOV Andrey
(1775 - 1848), father of the famous painter Alexander Ivanov. The Academy of Arts, his chief mentor was Mr.. Ugryumov. After graduating from the course with a large gold medal for the painting "Noah's Sacrifice," defined by a teacher of drawing in her classes. In 1803, Mr.. won the Academy as Adjunct Professor of historical painting, and received the title of academician of the painting "Adam and Eve with the children" (in the Museum of the Academy). In 1812, Mr.. for the painting "Single combat kn. Mstislav removed from Rededeyu "(in the museum of Alexander III) was promoted to professor and began teaching art history. Artworks Ivanova, characterized by a beautiful pattern and strong, though somewhat sharp flavor, highly valued in his time. They belong mainly to the religious old paintings and decorated mostly in St. Petersburg temples (the icon in the Kazan and the Transfiguration Cathedral, in Konyushennaya church, post office and church in the Mikhailovsky Castle). Ivanov also written for the church iconostasis Russia's mission in Beijing and for Zion Cathedral in Tbilisi. From his historical paintings, above mentioned, are issued "episode from the siege of Kiev pechenegy" (in the museum of Alexander III), "Death of Pelopidas," self-portrait and a portrait of his wife (in the Rumyantsev Museum). He was distinguished by the ability to transmit his knowledge to his disciples, many of whom owe him their subsequent successes. He was a mentor Kn. Briullov and the first leader of his son.
