Biography Antigonus Nicene
(Antigonus Nicaeensis) (lived, probably in the second half of this century). Born in Nicaea in Bithynia (North-West Asia). Compiled by the oldest known collection of horoscopes, which, inter alia, included the natal chart of the Emperor Hadrian (117 - 138) and his relatives. This collection consisted of at least four books, and each contain a detailed horoscope sposok astronomical and astrological data. Unfortunately, our time collection AN. not reached. Preserved only its fragments are listed in the Theban Hephaestion. Judging from these fragments, AN, apparently used the sidereal zodiac. AN. enjoyed great prestige among subsequent generations of astrologers. Thus, Porfiry in the "Introduction", in the chapter devoted to aspects of the planets, mentions places the name of AN. after Ptolemy.
It is known that as a doctor AN. also achieved great recognition among colleagues. In particular, he was the inventor of a useful antidote.
