Biography Pokrovsky Pyotr
Born in 1857. In 1870, Mr.. Pokrovsky enrolled in Tula school, and at the end of her course on the physicomathematical faculty of Moscow University. In 1881, after graduating with a degree candidate, Pokrovsky was left to prepare for a professorship at the department of pure mathematics H. Bugaev. From 1883 to 1891 he. Pokrovsky was a mathematics teacher in the IV Moscow gymnasium and in some private high schools. Since 1885. Pokrovsky, being appointed assistant professor at Moscow University, for 6 years has lectured on various departments of mathematics, as well as supervised practical training of students. In 1887, Mr.. received a master's degree in pure mathematics, to protect the thesis: "Theory ultraelipticheskih functions of class I" ( "Mathematical Collection, Volume XIII). A detailed analysis of this work, was awarded a prize named after Professor Brashman, was given NV. Bugaev in "Report of the Moscow University" for 1888. Receiving a trip abroad in 1889 90 g., Pokrovsky almost all the time worked in Berlin, studying the methods of the famous Weierstrass. Subsequently Pokrovsky has devoted a considerable part of their application to different ideas of Weierstrass on the theory of higher transcendental. In 1891, Mr.. Dr. Pokrovsky found in pure mathematics for a thesis: "On transformations Ultra integrals and functions of class I" ( "Mathematical Sbornik", Volume XV; analysis of this study is given NV. Bugaev in "Bullet. des Sc. Math ", Volume XVII). In 1881, Mr.. appointed extraordinary professor at the University of St. Vladimir, and in 1894. full professor. In theses published more Pokrovsky: "A historical sketch of the theory of Ultra and Abelian functions" (trial lecture title privatdocent, . M., . 1885), . "The theory of elliptic functions" (lectures, . M., . 1885), . "A brief introduction to the theory of elliptic functions" (introductory lecture at the University of St. Vladimir, .
