Biography JONES James (Jones James)
(1921-1977) Born November 6, 1921 in Robinson (pc. Illinois), where he also received a secondary education. From 1939 to 1944 he served in the U.S. Army. Some time his part was stationed near-Scofield Barracks (Hawaii), where the action unfolds his first major novel, Now and forever (From Here to Eternity, 1951). This roomy, stretched his novel with great force revealed the state of the army on the eve of Pearl Harbor, as it is seen recruit. Roman received for National Book Award in 1952. The next novel, Jones, and they ran (Some Came Running, 1959), depicts the life of the company of intellectuals, nonconformists in the campus of the Midwest. The story Pistol (The Pistol, 1959) Jones describes the trauma suffered by the hero after the theft of army pistol. The Thin Red Line (The Thin Red Line, 1962) - description Gvadalkanalskoy operation since World War II.
It should be noted also removes a noseless (Go to the Widow-Maker, 1967), Touch of danger (A Touch of Danger, 1973) and Vietnamese blog (Viet journal, 1974). Jones died in Southampton (pc. New York) May 9, 1977. His last novel, Just Call (Whistle) was published posthumously in 1978.
