Edwin Arlington Robinson (Robinson Edwin Arlington)

(1869-1935)
Born December 22, 1869 in Head-Tide (pc. Man). Robinson's childhood passed in Gardiner (pc. Man) (described in his poems under the name of Tilbury Town). For two years he studied at Harvard University, but was forced to interrupt their studies due to lack of funds. The first book in Robinson's downpour and the night before (The Torrent and the Night Before) was published in 1896. Containing a wonderful poetry collection Children of the Night (The Children of the Night, 1897) was barely seen, but later it included poems from many anthologies. One of the grateful readers of the book, President Theodore Roosevelt, helped Robinson get a position on the New York route.
The town down the river (The Town Down the River, 1910) includes a number of ironic poems, portraits, like Miniver Chevy, but this recognition from the critics, Robinson received after the book Man against the sky (Man Against the Sky, 1916). Behind it followed a series of large narrative poems on subjects Arturovskih legend - Merlin (Merlin, . 1917), . Lancelot (Lancelot, . 1920), .
