Biography Scribe, Augustin Eugö?ne
(1791-1861) Born December 24, 1791 in Paris. One of the most famous and prolific playwrights of his time, although many of the pieces created in collaboration with other dramatists. The range of subjects and genres he has been very wide - from the comedy of intrigue and comedy to historical tragicomedy and serious drama. Among the most famous of his plays - Bertrand and Raton (Bertrand et Raton, 1833), a glass of water (Le Verre d'eau, 1840), Adriana Lecouvreur (Adrienne Lecouvreur, 1849). He owns and librettos of many operas, including Robert the Devil and the Huguenots Dzh.Meyerbera and Verdi's Sicilian Vespers.
