SYSTEM Of A DOWN

It all started in the rehearsal studio in Los Angeles when Serj Tankian met a young guitarist named Daron Malakian. While they were both in different groups, but it is known that they had much in common, including the Armenian roots. Then they formed a group with Andranik "Andy" Khatchadurian, who sat at the drum set. This entity was called the Soil. Later, the group added bassist Shavarsh "Shavo" Odadjian, a good friend of the boys. Since then they have become known as System Of A Down. With the emergence of some creative differences between members of the group, John Dolmayan replaced drummer Andy.

Group name comes from the "Victims Of A Down", a poem written by Daron. It does not reflect the views of the musicians on world politics, but it is an assertion of my Niya about society in general.

There are many different types of music influenced the work of System Of A Down. Even in his youth on the team members affected by Dead Kennedys, Slayer, Morbid Angel, Kiss, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, as well as Armenian folk singer Harout Pamboukjian. The result was a unique blend of elements of jazz, metal, and Armenian rhythms. After a while the guys were honored to receive approval on the stage in Los Angeles, and became attractive to the fans. Although the majority of their performances were the opening act, they have steadily grown in popularity and respect. The list of groups that played System Of A Down are Incubus, Soulfly, Limp Bizkit, Slayer, and even Black Sabbath. Long tour schedule and intense music raised the debut album by the musicians to the "gold" status. At that time the group has demonstrated outstanding "live" performances.

In summer 1998, the first debut album, titled "System Of A Down" (American / Columbia). What followed were various compilations and soundtracks. For the movie "Strangeland" was recorded the track "Marmalade", on the compilation album South Park "Chef Aid" group sang the song "Will They Die For You?" with such rap artists as Mase, Puff Daddy and Lil Kim. Additional deposits can be found on several soundtrack: "Scream 3" ( "Spiders"), "Heavy Metal 2000" ( "Storaged"), "Blair Witch 2" ( "Mind") and "Dracula 2000" ( "The Metro" ). In 2000 the band appeared on the compilation albums "Nativity In Black: 2", . recorded a cover version of the song "Snowblind" the Black Sabbath, . and "Loud Rocks", . where the band collaborated with RZA (Wu-Tang Clan) in the remake song "Shame On Da Nigga" (All the same Wu-Tang Clan'a), . calling her "Shame",
. Perhaps the most important contribution was made in the album "Strait Up" (tribute to Lynn Strait). Lynn was the lead singer of Snot and a close friend Serj'a. He got together with his dog in a car accident in 1998. Serj wrote the lyrics and sang the song "Starlit Eyes", but Shavo has also played with Max'om Cavalera (Soulfly) in the song "Catch A Spirit". Besides all this Serj sang the song "Feel Good" with Morgan Lander (Kittie) on the album (hed) PE. "Broke" and "Patterns" with a solo album, Tony Iommi.

With their increased popularity not to mention the fact that the debut disc has become the "gold", it looks quite positive. Now System Of A Down are working on their second album with the same producer (first album was produced by Rick Rubin). It is expected the emergence of Sergio from the group Puya. No known part of the track-listing: "Kit", "Chick N Stew", "ATTWA" and "Walls", as the group reworks some old demo songs.
