Biography Amphilochus (Amphilochios)
Amphilochus, Amphilochios, the icons, c.. 340-OK. 396 years. n. e. Christian writer, a relative of Gregory of Nyssa. Studied under Libanius, and then performed the duties of a lawyer in Constantinople. Appointed bishop of Iconium, took part in the Council of Constantinople (381) and several synods. While in ancient times, and he enjoyed great prestige of his works survived only: 8 homilite, the synodal letter of the Holy Spirit, a poem of Seleucus, written iambs, as well as in Coptic translation against overly zealous ascetics.
