In LADIMIR Mikhailovich Komarov - pilot astronaut Á•¬ 11. Born March 16, 1927 in Moscow in a working class family. Russian. Member of the CPSU since 1952. In 1945 he graduated from the Air Force special school in Moscow. In the Soviet Army from 1945. He studied at the aviation school, the initial training. In 1949 he graduated from Bataisk Military Aviation School named after AK Serov. He served as a pilot in a fighter regiments in the North Caucasus and the Carpathians. In 1959 he graduated with honors from the Air Force Engineering Academy named after NE Zhukovsky. After the Academy served as assistant to the lead test engineer in one of the air units.
In 1960 enlisted in the cosmonaut. He was head of the group - senior instructor astronaut. In August, during the flight of the spacecraft Á• Á•L Vostok-3 and Vostok-4 Á• Á•L a backup cosmonaut Popovich.
. 12-13 October 1964, together with KP Feoktistov and Boris Yegorov, the group made its first orbital flight in a spaceship Voskhod Á• Á•L
. He flew for 24 h. 17 min. 16 turns around the Earth, Á• Á•L Sunrise landed 312 km north-east Kostanay (Kazakhstan).

. During the flight, which lasted more than a day, Komarov has fully complied with the scheduled program of working out systems of new ships, had planned scientific experiments. During the descent to the ground did not come out the main parachute lander. At high speeds the spacecraft crashed into the ground and burst into flames. Komarov was killed.
