In the army since 1952. In 1953 he graduated from the military aviation school Pavlogradskij initial training of pilots, in 1956 Á? Bataisk Military Aviation School. He served in line units air. In 1960-1980 Á? Detachment astronauts. In 1968 he graduated from the Air Force Engineering Academy named after NE Zhukovsky (Engineering Faculty).

Honorary citizen of Kaluga, Tula, Shakhtarsk; Chirchik (Uzbekistan). In the village Ponds opened his memorial museum.
