Fortunatian, Guy Hiry; Fortunatian, Gaius Chirius, IV in. n. e., a Roman rhetorician. Posted textbook Rhetoric (Ars rhetorica) in 3 books, designed for rhetorical schools. It was then a short course in public speaking, compiled in the form of questions and answers, illustrated with examples, especially from Cicero and Kvintilliana. The main source for P. was Hermogenes of Tarsus.
