Biography NESTOR (Nestor)
Nestor; Nestor, from Larandy (sovr. Karaman) in Asia Minor, II in. n. e., Greek poet received Roman citizenship. Author of numerous works, from which the remaining small fragments. His main work was the Ilias leipogrammatos (Iliad with missing letters) in 24 books, so named because in each of 24 books, one of the letters of the Greek alphabet does not appear even once. He also wrote the Metamorphoses, in which the author has narrated about the miraculous transformations of people in the plants and birds. Beyond that, he created the epic of Alexander (Aleksandreias) and two didactic poems: the healing garden (Aleksikepos), describes the properties of medicinal plants and medicines (Panakeia). He drew attention to the construction of hexameters, by use dactyls reaching large sonority of verse. N. read to the end of VI. n. e. He had an influence on the further development of the Greek epics, in particular Trifiodora, who wrote the Odyssey with missing letters, like the Iliad N., and Nona in creating its new metric rules.
