Polyaenus; Polyainos, II in. n. e., a Greek lawyer. He worked in Rome under Marcus Aurelius and Vera Lucia, who has devoted a 162 g. his work Stratogemy (Strategika or Strategemata) in 8 books. P. collected in it borrowed from the historians (mainly Greek), especially in Eforie and Plutarch, samples (approximately 900) of military action from the history of different peoples. Language of this work is full of vulgarism and infelicities of style. As a rhetorician P. concerned that not rewrite sources word for word, trying to rephrase and rewrite in your own style.
