Sandino received recognition as a revolutionary leader in 1926. He supported Vice-President Juan Bautista Sacasa to fight for the presidency of Nicaragua, but in the process interfered U.S., which landed its marines on the shores of the country in 1927.
Sandino, and several hundred of his men retreated to the mountains and long resisted American troops and National Guard than earned the respect and love people.
