Biography Gierek Gunter (Gereke)
Gierek, Gunter (Gereke), the official Reich Chancellery, the enemy of Nazism. Born Oct. 6, 1893 in Grц?n. In 1932 Chancellor Franz von Papen appointed him Commissioner for supply of work equipment, the post he has held, and after Hitler came to power. Due to the fact that Gierek did not recognize the Nazis, he was arrested on trumped-up charges of profiteering, bribery and embezzlement of public funds, but the offense could not be found, and Gierek was released on. Second time he was arrested after the failure of the July plot, 1944, solely because of personal friendship with Dr. Johannes Popitsem and Field Marshal Erwin von Vitslebenom, among former participants in the conspiracy. At the end of the 2-nd World War Gierek was liberated by the Allies.
