Severgin Vasily Mikhailovich (19. IV. 1765 - 29. XI. 1826) - Russian mineralogist and chemist, academician of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences (from 1793) Born in St. Petersburg. He graduated from the University of Gottingen (1789). From 1789 he worked at the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences at the Department of Mineralogy. In 1805-1826 member of the Committee of the Board of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences.
Key robots dedicated mineralogy and inorganic chemistry. First formulated (1798) notion of paragenesis ( 'adjacency minerals'). From the first Russian manual on chemical technology. Participated in the development of Russian scientific terminology in chemistry, botany and mineralogy. Founder and editor (since 1804) 'Technology magazine. One of the founders of the Mineralogical Society in St. Petersburg (1817).
