Biography Doliwa-Dobrovolsky Mikhail Osipovich
Mikhail Osipovich Dolivo-Dobrovolsky - the famous Russian engineer, electrical engineer, inventor.
He was born in 1862.
Mikhail Osipovich studied at the Riga Polytechnic Institute and was expelled from it for political activities without the right to admission to any institution of higher education in Russia. So he went to study in Germany, where he brilliantly finished the Higher Technical School.
Elect the time used a constant current. Mikhail Osipovich Dolivo-Dobrovolsky and Nikola Tesla had the honor of creating alternators, who made a revolution in electrical engineering.
In 1889 Dolivo-Dobrovolsky built three-phase motor and electrical system, which is transmitted by three-phase current voltage 8500 V, a capacity of 220 kW at a distance 175 km. He built it very quickly, in just one year.
But Mikhail Osipovich Dolivo-Dobrovolsky - a connoisseur of the AC - did not reject the values of DC. He first discovered that the most economical way to transfer energy to a distance - EHV millions of volts, and DC.
Forced to emigrate from Russia, Dolivo-Dobrovolsky almost spent his whole life in Germany, but has not renounced Russian citizenship.
Michael died Osipovich Dolivo-Dobrovolsky in 1919.
