Arthur Julius Auwers born September 12, 1838 in GцІttingen. Arthur Auwers Education from the University of GцІttingen and KцІnigsberg. Since 1866 Auwers was a member of the Berlin Academy of Sciences. Since 1878 scientist was secretary of the Berlin Academy of Sciences In 1904 Arthur Auwers was made an honorary foreign member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. In the history of astronomy Auwers entered as the founder of the German school of fundamental astrometry. Arthur Julius Avers was the first two fundamental catalog of about 300 thousand stars (1879 and 1907). Also Auwers belongs to a new treatment observations Bradleya. Arthur Julius Auwers published in 1888 catalog Auwers - Bradleya (3500 stars), which was the most accurate up to 1910. Auwers belongs to clarify the solar parallax from observations of minor planets and the transits of Venus in 1874 and 1882 respectively. January 24, 1915 Arthur Julius Auwers died. The name of Arthur Julius Auwers named a crater on the Moon.
