Lyapunov Alexei Andreyevich (1911-73), Russia mathematician, corresponding member of USSR (1964). Author of works on set theory, mathematical problems of cybernetics, mathematical linguistics.
One of the first domestic scientists, assessed the significance of cybernetics. Under his leadership, began the first in our country work on cybernetics. In the late 1950 Lyapunov formulated the main directions of development of cybernetics, . on the basis of which in subsequent decades have developed general and mathematical foundations of cybernetics, . computers, . programming and other areas of science, . developed the mathematical theory of control (cybernetic) systems, . In 1954-64 years Lyapunov organized and led a seminar on cybernetics at Moscow State University.
Lyapunov created the first training program and developed an operator method of programming. Laid the foundations of machine translation and mathematical linguistics, biological cybernetics and mathematical methods in biology
