Beckman-Shcherbina, Elena (cf.. name Kamentseva) (1881/1882-1951), Russian pianist. Born in Moscow on December 31, 1881 (January 12, 1882). Studied at N. Zvereva, in 1899 graduated from the Moscow Conservatory (class of PA Pabst, then Safonov). Since 1902 performed solo concerts, participated in the 'music exhibition' M.A.Deyshi-Sionitskoy (1907), 'Evenings of Modern Music' (1909). Beckman-Shcherbina became the first performer in Russia, works by C. Debussy, M. Ravel, and Scriabin, many of whose works were learning under the guidance of the composer himself. She has performed in chamber concerts with Nezhdanova, BO Siborom, GP Pyatigorsk, SP Kozolupova etc.. It was one of the first 'radio pianists': Since 1924 has performed over 700 works in a live-Union Radio. In 1937 she was awarded the title "Honored Artist of the RSFSR '. Since 1908 engaged in teaching activities: in 1912-1918 taught at the school's own piano playing, . in 1921-1930 worked at the Moscow Conservatory, . the mid 1930's until 1941 - in the Central correspondence Musical Pedagogical Institute (since 1940 a professor), . Author of children's plays and songs (recorded the song "In the forest born herringbone", composed by her husband, L. C. Beckmann, in the words of R. Kudashevoj).
